Dave Peterson

Dave is a native of the great State of Maine and is a graduate of the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He served eight years of active and reserve service in the U.S. Navy as an enlisted man. Commissioned in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Corps in October 1973 as an Ensign, he served on active duty in the NOAA Corps until his 2003 retirement. As a NOAA Commissioned Corps officer, Dave:

• Served on 6 NOAA survey and research ships and commanded 2
• Is a qualified NOAA diver with over 250 working dives
• Retired as a Captain with his final assignment as Chief of Personnel

In post-retirement, he has chosen to continue to serve:

• Elected to MOAA National Board of Directors, Class of 2012
• Served one 5-year term as a Commissioner on the Maryland Veterans Commission
• Served four terms as President of the MOAA Montgomery County Chapter
• Currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of both his local chapter and the Maryland Council of Chapters
• Currently serves as a member of the Maryland Military Coalition representing the NOAA Association of Commissioned Officers
• Currently serving his 13th term as President of the Derwood Station Homeowners Association

Dave is married, the father of two daughters, and the doting grandfather of a

granddaughter.
